That may very well be. My food processor experience happened, probably, just over a year ago. They sure don't make things like they used to.
I also tore up the gears on my 20 year-old KA stand mixer (bread again!). My husband decided to buy me a new KA stand mixer for my birthday. Guess what? I burned out the motor, the very first time I used it to make bread dough. That one got returned to the store (BB&B) for a refund. My husband replaced the gear in my old KA stand mixer and it's been purring along, just fine, ever since. Everything is disposable, nowadays. It's a shame.

Hi MILKI,
My first two cents would be to ask that you consider not using a food processor to make pie crust. The less the ingredients are handled or processed, the better the crust. I still use a really old pastry blender when I make pie crust.
To your main point, I have 2 Kitchen Aid stand mixers which I love and would never replace with another brand. No other Kitchen Aid appliances are found in my kitchen.
I have 2 Cruisinart food processors which I likewise love and would never replace with another brand.
I did a lot of research prior to purchasing both items, so for me each purchase was a given. I'd suggest reading as many reviews as you possibly can (perhaps on Amazon, where they must have at least hundreds). I did this when I wanted to purchase a toaster oven, because we had never owned one. Ended up reading 233 reviews (yes, I actually read that many and am glad I did).
On my end, I always say spend as much as you can afford for the best possible quality and warranty from a reputable vendor. I'd be very disinclined to puchase such from this vendor.
Hope you're satisfied with your purchase.

My cuisinart is about 30 years old and still going strong. Fortunately I can still get the bowls for it, since mine recently cracked. I don't use it, but I do use it to make my doughs, especially for Christmas cookies.

Hi, I agree with the no pie crust in the processor! I believe the KA is simple to use. The Cuisinart has a larger wattage. For bread, pizza, etc you need the most watts you can get. So it depends on your use! Sonnie

I love my cuisinart. Tried a new KA, needed a larger bowl for cheese straws, used first time and it failed, return for a new one and it also had a problem. Enough for me, ordered cuisinart and it is wonderful. Gave my smaller one to my son and it still works. My Mr. Brown Pants upon delivering the 3rd food processor asked why was I getting all these heavy deliveries (he's a good friend).
Must say I would never trade my KA stand mixer for anything else. (have not tried any other kind). My son also has my old one and it's still going strong.

I've had my Cuisinart for around 15 years and it's still great. I like the brand and definitely over the KA brand. I think that people who have had KA machines for a long time have good quality products. But they aren't making KA like they used to.
Furthermore, be careful if you choose to buy KA from QVC because some of their products are now made in China. I don't know if that is universal with the brand, or just with the ones sold on QVC, however. I think their stand mixers are still made in the US (although not to the same specs as they used to be), so I'm not referring to that. ![]()

I did a lot of research and went with a Cuisinart food processor and have had it for many years and love it.
I went with a Kitchen Aid mixer stand mixer and that too is many years old and still going strong. Love that too. Good luck with your choice.
