If my kielbasa is too salty, can I boil it a little and then cut it up to fry or whatever. Just wondering if that would get some of the salt out. Any suggestions? Thanks

I think I heard if you cook it with a slice of bread...the bread sucks up some of the salt.

Throwing a raw potato in with it will do this too. I had made a stew of some kind once for guests and it was too salty and my friend told me to do the potato thing. Only problem was it seemed to take out too much saltiness, but I like things fairly salty, so your mileage may vary.

I don't like salty foods either. A potato will remove the salt from soup or other foods cooked in liquid and YES, you can boil the kielbasa in water to remove some salt. I use this method for ham slices too.

Cooking it in beer or ginger ale won't affect the flavor but will pull the salt out.
Ginger ale is good to use for corned beef and ham also.

My Mom always cooked it water to get the salt out - parents always loved it but it was not a favorite of mine.... I cook hot dogs in water also...
