because I am making Napleons tonight. Using puff pastry and layering homemade lemon curd with the puff pastry and homemade whipped cream. The recipe called for 1 1/2 cups of sugar but I cut that down to 3/4cup because of reviews stating how sweet it was. It was still plenty sweet so I cannot imagine how sweet it would have been. It really came out great and was so easy.

I tend to find that recipes with sugar ALWAYS have too much. I find that you can always reduce it by a good 30% or more. Clearly, it needed to be reduced a lot more for this recipe.
Sounds good, BTW. I love lemon!

Oooh this sounds delicious. I'll look for it and perhaps try making it sometime minus some of the sugar. Yum.

I have every one of Ina's cookbooks & no question one of my all-time favorites.

Yes, I find that too and not because I am on a diet or trying to lose weight and I do like sweet stuff but I cannot stand it if it is too sweet. I won't finish all of my dessert if it is too sweet and we cannot have that now can we? lol .. I LOVE lemon too. I added all the zest from the lemons into it because I like that extra kick!

Come on over! My daughter is coming over to watch the Oscars tonight and I made it as a special treat for that. I have everything ready and I am going to assemble them after dinner. We are really splurging tonight with fat and calories because I am making sliced Cajun chicken breast on top of fettuccine Alfredo.

I have a recipe for a lemon pie and I have cut the sugar amount twice. I find older recipes always call for too much sugar.

@Irshgrl31201 did you say cajun chicken breast alfredo? . . . any chance you could squeeze in one more at the table (actually I would be more than happy to eat my portion balancing my plate on my knees as that sounds beyond delicious!).
Bon appetite my friend! ![]()
