July 4th Today is NATIONAL BARBECUED SPARERIBS DAY

The only spareribs to me is pork. So, get your grill ready!!! Grill some ribs today!!

Grilling is not an option today, I like to cook mine in the oven low and slow. I remove the membrane from the back and season them up with salt/pepper/garlic and some store bought rub. Cook them all day low and slow. Brush on some sauce near the end of cooking and enjoy.

ITA pork is the only way to go when you want ribs. DH put a brisket on the smoker early this morning & baby back ribs a few hours later. Also have baked beans & mac n' cheese on the smoker. Made some potato salad. Should be ready to eat about 5. Yum!!!

Oh Boy, do I want some ribs!!! I told my husband that this morning ~ he agrees. We will be doing them VERY soon, but not today. The Fourth of July is our son's Boy Scout Troop's biggest fundraiser of the year, so time is not permitting today. Enjoy your ribs, though!! I'll be thinkin' about it. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

I want to come to your house for dinner. Those are three of my favorite foods. It's pouring rain here. All fireworks postponed and our cookout will be on Sunday. Enjoy your dinner. I'm jealous.

Re: July 4th Today is NATIONAL BARBECUED SPARERIBS DAY

No grilling or smoking at our house today. We usually do it up big but not this year. Our hearts are just not in it.

We lost our baby girl May 30th and to say we are devastated, heart broken and sad just doesn't cover it. Parents are just not suppose to outlive their children.

Not trying to bring anyone down but this is the first time I've been able to put it in writing. Every minute of everyday is a struggle.

I hope everyone enjoys their 4th celebrations, we just can't.

Re: July 4th Today is NATIONAL BARBECUED SPARERIBS DAY

We're having ribs today, also.

We just got some of the prepared ones at our grocery store. They're pretty good. I often add more bbq sauce and just do them in the convection oven, so as to not further heat up the house. Love that convection oven!

They run them on ad often, during the summer, and I stock up a little bit. I like to cut each rack in half, wrap in cellophane, freeze, then vacuum seal each half-rack separately. When I want ribs one night it's an easy task - half an hour in the convection oven from frozen and ready to eat.

I'm not really set up to do the hard work for ribs - no smoker, don't use the bbq, etc, so the prepared ones they sell at Raley's (a West Coast grocery chain) are very nice. They are large, 22oz, racks so one rack is more than enough for two people. They have lots of meat on them and virtually no fat.

They used to run on ad for $7.99 each (as long as you buy two), but now they just run them for $9.99. Still pretty cheap for enough food to feed two people.

Oh you poor, poor dear. There aren't enough words or even adequate words that I can think of other than to just say I am so very sorry for your loss. Your inability to feel a celebratory mood right now is totally understandable. My wish for you is that you won't get stuck in your grief and that you will find a way to process through it. Please seek some therapy or pastoral counseling if you need help in that area. My heart goes out to you.

I made barbecued baby back ribs yesterday. They were awesome - only a couple of 3-4 rib sections left from 3 full size slabs.
