Jules5280....Yorkshire Pudding...Absolutely Adore and.....

My mother use to make it when we would have our roast beef dinners (of course!). Mom received her Yorkshire Pudding recipe from her mother-in-law, my grandmother. Don't know the history of this dish but my dad's family was 100 percent Irish. Mom was half Dutch & half English. (Her mother knew nothing about making the pudding).

I mentioned to a man I worked with (He was English) that I would be enjoying mom's Yorkshire Pudding and Mincemeat Pie. I was flying to Florida for the holidays to see my parents. He laughed and said there was no way my mom could possibly make the pudding and pie like he loved in England and still enjoyed with his family here in the U.S. (He had met my parents and adored them by the way).

End of Story: I brought Mr. Cooper some pie and pudding on the plane back from Florida. (Before 9/11, don't know if airline would let me carry that on board today?). He LOVED both dishes and called Mom from work immediately the day I brought it to him. When my parents would visit me in Ohio during the summers, she always made it a point to make her pudding and pie (as he did). They compared, teased each other on who did the best, etc. She never forgot Mr. Cooper till the day she passed away. Thought you would enjoy this story!!! P.S. Mrs. Cooper was American. She never did make the pudding or pie, Mr. Cooper did.
