Supposedly, seed sprouts are very nutrient dense and very easy to grow. It takes about 5 days and all you do is start them in a mason jar and rinse 2-3 times daily to prevent mold during the sprouting process. Broccoli sprouts have a lot of sulforaphane which has many health benefits.

My late husband was stationed in Korea, and LOVED sprouts. And YES, I grew them. Now, I just buy a handful at the market.

I've been eating them for years but I buy them. Never tried growing them.

Do you have a favorite source for the seeds?
I used to love to eat bean sprouts, especially heaped in sandwiches. But I haven't seen them in our local grocery stores for years. I would love to grow some.

I haven't jumped in yet, @AuntMame, but I plan to look for organic. I'm leisurely looking at the necessary equipment right now.

I did waaayyy back in the 70's. Had a kit with tubes and strainers and grew them in my window sill in the kitchen. Much preferred them on a sammie than greens--and still do. I wouldn't buy them in the grocery store tho--those as well as beans sprouts--just don't trust the quality and worry about how they are out where anyone can finger thru them--yuck!!! but would grow them again.

I googled 'alfalfa sprouts' and discovered that grocery stores stopped selling them, and sub-sandwich chains stopped offering them as a topping, because the FDA kept recalling them and issuing warnings about them due to e.coli risk.
No wonder I haven't seen them sold anywhere in years. Love them as a sandwich topping.

I would never remember to rinse that many times a day. I can't even remember to take that midday dose of antibiotics when I'm on them.

They would be on the kitchen counter, @Icegoddess , so seeing them right there all the time might help, but I think I'd still tie it to something else.
making morning coffee - rinse the sprouts
making lunch - rinse the sprouts
making evening tea - rinse the sprouts
We'll see.

I never had a problem rinsing them either--was always at the kitchen sink--they grew/grow fast tho--was hard to use them up and my kids didn't think "grass" belonged on their sammies🤪
