Under pressure from the meat lobby, Iowa & Utah have enacted the infamous 'ag-gag' laws that criminalize taking or possessing photographs and videotapes documenting the atrocious treatments of animals in factory farms and slaughterhouses.
What are they trying to hide, that they felt the need to enact these laws? I guess I know the answer to that.
As these bills were being debated, the head of the World Health Organization forecast the "end of modern medicine", unless the meat industry stops its wholesale use of antibiotics.
The meat industry uses these drugs to ensure that animals survive the extreme crowding of factory farms.
I personally will 'buycott' (I stole that word from Kaplan, hope she doesn't mind!) anything from Iowa or Utah and think it may be time for me to consider a vegan lifestyle.
How do you feel about these 'ag-gag' laws and the widespread use of antibiotics in the meat industry?
Just curious what others think about this.
