@MsSuze  Actually, there is one called InstaPot which seems hard to get and is also more expensive than the Instant Pot.  Don't know if the InstaPot was the original and then the name changed and have been wondering what the difference is and if they are both made by the same manufacturer.

@CLEM

Honestly, I believe there was confusion at the beginning &

social sites called it ‘Instapot’....when in reality it was “Instant Pot”.

There’s only 1 Instant Pot.

“Instapot” is just a misspelling from the early days and

it just snowballed from there...confusing everyone!

I use it for soup, stew, boiled eggs, beans,  tomato sauce etc

head to Amazon and you can read all about it or just put INstant pot into your browser

boiled eggs?  Ha!  Never thought of that!

In the shell?

 The newer models of the Instant Pot such as the Duo Plus 6qt 9-in-1 has an egg function/button on the front of it. I don't eat eggs so I will never use that function.

the egg button should also work perfectly for boiled potatoes.  Perfectly cooked potatoes with no boil overs and no watching!!

Yes we use it to cook them for mashed potatoes now,  used to take forever on the stove.

Uses a fraction of the water and time.

Did I say I love this thing ?♥

@jackthebear

People said, ‘Instant Pot steamed potatoes taste differently!’

I thought, ‘yeah...no’, but.....it’s true!

They have a creamier texture.

Steamed whole or cut up for mash, the steaming creates a

different (better) texture than steamed/boiled on the stove...IMO.

It is called an Instant Pot (IP) not instapot. It is a cooker that has multiple functions including a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, saute, steamer, yogurt maker and depending on which model you have, it may also have an egg cooker, cake cooker, and sterilizer. I have two of them - the IP Duo60 6qt 7-in-1 and the IP Duo Plus 6qt 9-in-1. I use them a few times a week.

I eat a vegan diet and cook most of my own food. I no longer buy canned beans. In the IP, I cook large batches of beans and freeze them for later use. I do not need to soak them over night. I cook a variety of lentil, yellow split pea, green split pea recipes in the IP. I also cook sweet potatoes and winter squash in it. I make my own soy yogurt in it.

It is the best kitchen appliance I have ever bought and have used the most. The best place and time to buy one.is on Amazon if you are a Prime member is on Prime Day in July, Black Friday in November, and Cyber Monday in November. It is always on sale on those days. I believe it was this past Prime Day that the IP was the #1 selling item on Amazon and during the holidays it was the #1 selling kitchen item.

I love it and highly recommend it. Other companies have come up with their own version of the IP that may or may not cost less. You can learn more about it and read reviews about it on Amazon.

I have not tried cooking dried beans I buy the canned works for me.

but the freezing sounds interesting  because they can go bad quickly if you don't use them.

I will buy beans on sale

so please tell me more about how you freeze them

and I will give you a nice bean recipe in the IP

Okay!  Here we go!  I just put 3 eggs in the pot and set it for "8" minutes.  I watched a YT vid and they set the pressure to "high" for 8 minutes and "low" for 12 minutes, but that must be a new model, because I don't have a "pressure" setting.  So, I'll be back after 8 minutes.

Yes!  It's perfect for potatoes.  I'm a red potato junkie and cook them frequently in the Instapost.  They come out perfectly ... and soooo delicious.  IMHO, the pot makes food taste better!
