If you think you might need to replace an appliance this year...

My 23 yo wall oven needs to be replaced. Luckily it's still working, but the door doesn't quite stay closed at the top and therefore the self-cleaning function can't work because the latch doesn't engage...also, it won't get quite hot enought to trigger the latch as heat escapes out the top.

Anyway, I only buy appliances from a store that does it's own repairs. I ordered another wall oven and the wait will be 6 months. Nothing top of the line, but it is a Bosch, which will replace the same brand I have loved for all these years.

I had to replace my washer a few months ago...knew I wanted another LG front loader. The selection came down to "what's in stock" because I didn't have the luxury to wait as my washer had died.

If it's in your plans to replace an appliance, you might want to go ahead and get something ordered.

@dakotacheryl That is good advice. My oven is starting to have some problems & I know which one I want.

I will check into that.

Re: If you think you might need to replace an appliance this year...

I went to Best Buy to get a new laptop Thursday.  That same morning before I left my Keurig died.  Couldn't order from the Q as I needed it NOW.  So, I picked up a Keurig along with a computer.

Since I wanted a slim, no frills, no water container model, only one was left.  It didn't match with my kitchen colors since it's blue and white, but decided a nice warm cup of joe was more important than matchy-matchy.

What it boils down to is that if you need it you take what's available - period!  So your advice is right-on, order six months in advance if you can.  Then you have a choice, not just take it or leave it.Woman Frustrated

Agree with you about buying from a long-established, locally-owned store that does their own repairs.  Has paid off in the longrun for us.

I just wish we still had one of those stores.
