Ice Cream Makers

I am considering getting an ice cream maker but know nothing about them. We had one when I was growing up, but my mother never liked to use it due to the hassle factor (at least that is what she said). I've read more and more about making personal sized ice cream lately, but I'm wondering if there is a very user-friendly and reliable machine out there. I would prefer not to have to shake it or anything like that. I'm looking for simplicity and quality of output.

Anybody have any they can highly recommend that might be worth trying? I see they have a Cuisinart ice cream and sorbet maker at Kohl's and I am considering trying that due to pretty good reviews, but I'm hoping for additional suggestions on this.
