Re: ITKWD host and personal ordering on air

For all of that is part of his job, just like everything else. He has a director in his ear telling him things as he sell. I remember a few years ago they could not order products before they went on air. They had to let someone else do their ordering for them if it was something they wanted. They have to pay for the item just like we do, as for all this complaining about how many times aTSV is shown is out of his control. We can agree to one thing that on every job that we were on we did what we were told or there was no job. If it was not accepted then he would not do it, we need to understand that no one do things on their own.

I find it equally as fascinating as the rest of the show.

Re: ITKWD host and personal ordering on air

I don’t mind at all if they order on air. Years and years ago they changed it so hosts could not order before a show. That has probably changed since they can now order during a show. It doesn't seem fake to me. I saw David order 2 of the super big Christmas cone trees for his foyer and he talked about it the next day on a different show. Why bother saying that if he didn’t really order them?

What I don’t believe is when a host says they are going to order something after the show if there are any left. They forgot to order it earlier, so will probably order it later. Huh? Way to say “meh” to everyone.

Re: ITKWD host and personal ordering on air

I  find it a poor sales ploy.  Only once did I feel uneasy and that when a "popular" female host threw a full blown 5-year old temper tantrum because she couldn't get anyone to order for her.  It might have been a fake sales ploy then also but I changed channels because it was so uncomfortable to see an adult behaving so juvenile about "stuff!"  Sales are important to QVC and this type of behavior will continue.

They must be desperate to pull out all the old, tired tricks to try to sell their junk.  I'm surprised David would agree to do that.

After he saw his dear friend get fired who dedicated herself to Q and 5 hosts get fired in a day he is doing what he has to do to keep his job.

Q want these people's youth, ingenuity and souls.  Alberti is an example of not being the same person as he was when hired.

David has said many times that he gets samples of products to try. He does not have to buy the items.

In both of the recent instances of David doing this, he has noted that it's in part to show how easy the QVC app is to use—today, he specifically emphasized twice that it "took just 20 seconds" for him to place his order. I find it silly and unnecessary, and I am fairly sure he is being asked to do it, but it doesn't seem like a big deal to me with all his other antics. (And all that said, I do like David.)

@loriqvc- thank you for the clarification.

Re: ITKWD host and personal ordering on air

I remember years ago that hosts (really the female hosts) what say to on air to their mother or sister, etc who was watching....please order this for me in a pink medium or to a QVC staffer on the side or behind the scenes.  Used to see if for a while there pretty often, this was way back when LR was still there.  Until one time host Jacque was on air with Dennis Basso and she did that....buy such and such for me, and Dennis Basso got so angry.  Said something like, "what is this?  you're personal shopping time/"  I don't think I saw it after that.  Who know if they were actually buying an item or it's just a ploy to try to get you to buy something.
