Now, I'm eyeing the Nantucket Basket by Wedgwood. We have an outlet store now. Does that tell you anything?????

Sooner, I've had the Nantucket Basket by Wedgwood for over 20 years. I use it every day and absolutely love it! I don't think you would ever regret that purchase.

I do not like Temptations either because I think the patterns are busy and look cheap(I have a couple of Polish stoneware pieces from TJ Maxx and I think they are pretty as accent pieces). My parents recently moved in with us and my mom had quite a few pieces of Temptations and some Rachel Ray bakers(in addition to a slew of other QVC kitchen stuff). We put the majority of items into the donation pile except a couple of the RR bakers because they are a solid color. Additionally, I have several pieces of French White that I like from years ago which have held up very well. I recently ordered all white dinnerware from WS because I am tired of my old and chipped patterned dishes. I cook and bake a lot and the food really presents well on all white which is why most restaurants use it. Additionally, it is easy to mix with other white or colored pieces. The older I get, I prefer a simpler, cleaner style.

First we had an old pattern by Wedgewood called "Midwinter White" (I think). For the last several years, we have white porcelain by Apilco (their "traditional" one) that we bought at WS. It's perfect and almost indestructible. Porcelain is an excellent material because it is so durable.

At one point we started developing some odd marks on the dishes. This was a long time after our purchase, but WS replaced every single one of them at no cost. We've had no problems since.

I don't mind patterns in accessories, and our good china does have a decorative border, but for every day dishes, I think white is the most appealing.

Thirty years ago, I bought Pottery Barn basic white set...service for 8.

I still have all but one piece (a cereal bowl). It is THAT durable!

Since then, I inherited my mom's Fiesta from the 50s and added some new Fiesta as well.

I really tried to like TT, but every piece of bakeware cracked or chipped within a few months of purchase.

Are they made in China? I wouldn't eat off Chinese glazes. Notorious for leaching chemicals.

Please share RELIABLE information regarding your opinion. And don't use toys or chicken jerky for pets as your "source" for why Chinese glazes "leach chemicals." You've obviously have never taken a ceramics class.

OP, I know I like my temp-tations, but you are certainly allowed to love what you love too. Good on you for sharing your opinion!! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I'm not sure why some of you are using adjectives like "repulsive" and "gross". Could you explain?

I'm not attracted to the busy patterns, but I'm not sure how a baking dish can be repulsive.

Ugly, nasty, hideous, revolting.....yes, repulsive! Don't think I've ever seen uglier patterns.

I have to admit that I find the Temptations patterns way too busy for my taste but I also recognize that not everybody shares my taste so far be it from me to ever insult anyone else because their taste is different from mine. My mother raised me with enough class to know better that that.
