Along with the loss of daylight, the coming months see us lose fresh peaches, cherries, CORN, berries, watermelons and other wonderful summer foods.
Apples are ok, but the rest of the winter foods don't exactly thrill me.

Ditto- I love cherries and watermelon.

@Sooner So true We had our final Summer grilling day today. We also served fresh corn from a local farmer and just-picked tomatoes from my patio plants. Here in PA, a Dutchy way of serving the tomatoes is in apple cider vinegar with a little salt and a lot of pepper. I looked over at DH, and I could see he was back in the 50's and 60's with me! And, we also had fresh sliced peaches from another farm stand. So good!

I agree, I am missing the cherries, enjoying peaches now before its too late. Still getting some fresh tomotoes off of our tomato plant.

Our neighbors have been sharing some of their garden goodies with us this summer. The tomatoes they left us the other day were huge, and so red, flavorful, and juicy. 🍅

I can't stand losing my tomato sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, and fresh green beans.
I thought I could freeze cooked green beans---wrong! They were super saturated with the liquid. I don't like canned.

I'll miss nectarines and canteloupe the most. Peaches, grapes, etc., are good but nectarines and canteloupe are my favorites. Not much of a veggie person so don't have any real favorites there.

My husband has some cantelope every day, he buys them year round at Sams club, probably not as good as in summer though.

@ECBG I never had luck with freezing green beans in any form. I think the really good frozen bean companies (Hanover) do individual quick frozen green beans. We can't do that. There's just no way to keep that summer fresh taste with the green beans. Enjoy them while you can.

Actually, there's another way. String, break, dry. Freeze in bake sheets, add to bag. Unfortunately, they don't heat up quickly!!! DARN!!!!
