I know some of these questions are probably rather stupid.
Our new electric flat top was delivered Saturday. As I was looking through the ins and outs of the stove, how to use it, etc., there was a section on the types of cookware that could be used.
It specifically said not to use porcelain enamel over stainless as it could come off onto the cooktop. I have 2 red, non-stick frying pans that say on the bottom, "enamel over stainless." How do I know if they are porcelain enamel or hardcoat enamel? Is there a difference?
I also am hesitant to use some of my pots and pans because of the age of them. Some of the pans I have my mother got for her wedding back in the 50's. I don't know if these would be safe to use? Even my own pans are 23 years old and I'm nervous about using them. They are Farberware pans, plain stainless.
I didn't really want to invest in new pots and pans but I certainly don't want to ruin my flat top surface. TIA
