I met him at a book signing, too.  While waiting in line I felt like a kid waiting to see Santa! A lot of fun and he puts you at ease.  Asked me what recipes I have made from his book.

"Who wouldn't buy it?".  I WOULDN'T BUY IT. 

 

His job is to sell product.  The "homey touch" is a sales pitch.  Accept it for what it is and go from there.
