I Just Got Anchor Hocking (oops not Pyrex) Plates on Sale!

[ Edited ]

I just bought 3 Anchor Hocking--not Pyrex as I first posted-- 9" glass pie plates for $3.18 at Walmart.  They are supposed to be delivered tomorrow morning.

Thanks to an alert poster I am correcting my post--Anchor Hocking not Pyrex.  I am happy though they will be good gift-pie bakers!

Wow!  That's a great price.

I love pie plates.  I have a large collection.  Most of mine are ceramic, but I have metal and Pyrex too.

I make a lot of pies...especially apple.

Enjoy...Yummmm

I see a Anchor Hocking pie plate for $3.18 on the Walmart website but can't find a Pyrex for that price, it's $5.17. Guess I missed seeing it but I like Anchor Hocking so I'll order it. Thanks @Sooner.

@Sooner SCORE!!! That makes even easier to gift baked goods  in, use to give guest leftovers in, get multiples for dredging station for breading, and other uses.

Imma gonna check that out. Thank you!

@Sooner, great price.

I have some nice pyrex pie plates, & deep dish ones too, but I don't like to use them for pies anymore.

When making an all butter pie crust, it's best to go either straight from the fridge or the freezer and into the oven, which you really can't do w/ pyrex - or at least I'd be afraid to.

Muddling through...

What's better than adding a couple precious PYREX pieces ....  at a very good price?

I should look around for a piece I donated and regret to this day ......  a round glass lid for the 10 inch diameter bowl.  I have two bowls  and a flatter dish, and mistakenly thought I'd only need one lid at any given time.

(What was I thinking?)

I better look for a "lid only" on Ebay and wherever .....   anyway, silly as it might seem ... Congrats!   Woman Happy

I should have said "each" but it's still a great buy.  I ordered online.

Re: I Just Got Pyrex Pie Plates on Sale!

@Sooner - Congratulations on your deal! I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but I'd recommend checking the capacity and dimensions when you receive them; I got a similarly great deal on Pyrex pie plates a couple of years ago and discovered that they were too small in both volume and diameter for my standard pies. I was so glad I had checked before baking in them!

(For whatever it might be worth, I recently went on quite an odyssey of checking all my baking dishes to see if they were truly the size and volume they advertised, and more than half failed the testing—and the majority of those were well-known brands. I was surprised but not shocked since the reason for the process was the fact that I'd had some very unexpected baking "fails" and wondered if the vessels were contributing to the problems; they definitely were. My local thrift shops ended up with quite a haul of pretty but not quite right-sized bakeware!)
