Re: I Don't Know if I will Ever Cook Another Chicken

I don't know of anyone else who has my complaint about rotisserie chicken regardless of the brand or whichcompany  sells it.  When I eat rotisserie chicken it causes a bad pain in my chest, kind of a cramp and I have actually doubled over.  They must use a preservative that  I cannot tolerate.  It lasts for several minutes and slowly eases up.  So, I haven't purchased rotisserie chicken in a few years.  Chinese food does the same thing to me.

If ever you have the time and the will, look up a recipe called "Chicken on a beer can". Hands down the most delicious chicken ever! Simple to cook one or three, whatever you need. Of course, you don't have to use beer, you can take an empty soda can or empty beer can and fill it 2/3 full with whatever you like. I use pineapple or apple juice, sometimes soda. The chicken gets rubbed with oil, salt and peppered, open the can of whatever liquid you want to use and sit the chicken on the can so it is actually standing up on the pan with the drumsticks balancing it on top of the can. Roast it in the oven and all the fat runs off down into the roasting pan, making the skin dark golden brown and crispy. It is the most tender, moist, delicious chicken ever. We do ours on the grill in the Summer. Yum!

I must be one of the few who don't but this on a regular basis,  I find them really greasy.  I still cook my own in the air fryer.

My friend does this but I have yet to try.

I've never made a whole chicken either. I just get them at Costco. We only eat the white meat so I do throw away some but they are so easy and good. I've never made soup from bones either.

Re: I Don't Know if I will Ever Cook Another Chicken

I also enjoy a Sam's club chicken now and then as well.  I have  cooked a whole chicken but not as good as Sam's.  I think because I am not very good with using spices.

Last night for the first time I cooked chicken thighs.  My daughter does all the time and I took them out of the freezer for her to cook.  Change of plans so she decided she would do tonight instead so I cooked up one pack for myself and she could have the left overs for tonight too.  She has another one to cook up.

They turned  out great and tasty as well.   I didn't eat the skin and just the meat but they do come out very tender.  I always just do breast.

My husband was always the cook so I decided to start trying different things.  I have family right next door to share with so makes it more enjoyable for me to do.  We sort of take turns cooking.  My daughter loves to cook but not always the time during the week.  I get off work early so I like to help out but not every night.  Grand kids are picky too.  I figure not my problem.  Been there done that.

Maybe the sodium phosphate they use in these rotisserie chickens?

I haven't cooked a whole chicken in years! Shop-Rite chickens are so delicious!

Or maybe iit's an allergic reaction to MSG that's often used in commercial food prep.

The sodium content in rotisserie chickens is incredibly high. Just saying.
