Re: ? How to program high pressure setting

[ Edited ]

@CLEM

The "Less, Normal and More" options are for "Saute", same as if using Less(low), Normal(medium) and More(Hi)" option,  "More" would be used for "Browning".  The Preset modes also can be adjusted to Less, Normal and More.

When manual pressure cooking you have two options, "Low Pressure" and "High Pressure" and normal with be the default, you can't adjust that setting.

I hope this helps you.  I rarely use the presets and usually manually adjust the time to cook.  I have pressured cooked for many years, but, I just got the IP duo in July.  Still learning, but, I love this brand, especially, the Lapsed count down after cooking!  Did you join the IP Facebook community?  I love that group, over a million members and they teach me something about the IP daily and share some awesome recipes.

Re: ? How to program high pressure setting

@CLEM: Thank you. Was the pressure changed to low? Really appreciate the information. DH just asked what I was cooking for tomorrow and replied doing a roast in the pc. He said- if you had the Instant pot could use that to prepare a double batch of potato, carrots and onion. Then prepare the roast and gravy in the old pc😃, Southern Bee

Re: ? How to program high pressure setting

@Chicagoan  Thanks for the information.  This now makes perfect sense and I am glad this can be used for the saute function.  Now I don't feel so stupid.  I don't think they say that in the manual.

I got my IP back in March when QVC had it on for the first time.  My first pressure cooker was one from Todd English.  It also had the count down feature and a few presets.  Gave it to a friend a few years ago and she uses it all the time and loves it.   But I missed having a pressure cooker so I got the IP.  It's okay so far.  Have even made a cake in it, but I think I will stick to the old way of baking.

I can't stand Facebook.  Never find my way around in it.  So I haven't checked that out.

Thanks again.

I don't have that model but I think the less, normal and more plus and minus signs adjust the TIME--the numbers.  I THINK you hit the pressure button to change pressure levels from less and high.

@SouthernBee  I am pretty sure you can cook your eggs in any pressure cooker.  Just need to program for it.  I remember Meredith talking about this when demonstrating CE pressure cookers.  My IP doesn't have an egg preset either, but I will try the eggs either today or tomorrow anyway.  I think it is done on the steam setting and then put in the time.  Will have to find out how many minutes.  You can google for that.

@CLEM @SouthernBee  I've had good luck finding recipes and cooking times for pressure cooking on Pinterest.   Heart

@SharkE: I always enjoy your input on different subjects. I have the Cuisinart pressure cooker and love it. My egg cooker just died and DH looked at the instant pot and wants me to purchase this instead of another egg cooker. My feeble mind can’t understand how it is possible to do boiled eggs in a pressure cooker. I love small kitchen appliances but running out of storage space. Should I purchase the instant pot and try to teach this ole dog 🐕 something. Southern Bee

Once you use a pressure cooker for hard cooked eggs you will never want to do them any other way.  Put the eggs on a rack, add water, pressure cook for 6 minutes, natural release for 3 or 4 minutes then quick release, put the eggs in cold water for a minute then they will almost peel themselves.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

Re: ? How to program high pressure setting

@Marp: Truly appreciate the information. Next weekend will probably try the eggs . Today doing a roast with vegetables. I cooked the vegetables first in the pc and have them in a covered dish while the roast cooks. Southern Bee

@SouthernBee, You're welcome!   I follow Meredith Laurence on Instagram and she just posted a recipe using her 2qt PC which I happen to have. Her post reminded me that her website, bluejeanchef also has a lot of PC recipes as well as instructions.  HTH!    Heart
