I got stuck with a batch of cereal containers where you have to take off the entire lid as the spout won't open. Back in the recesses of my mind I remember DH telling me he worked at a plastic injection molding plant in his youth. So I reasoned this flaw out and thought perhaps it was a faulty die that was punching these out. He told me seams were always trimmed by hand. Since I figured no human hands are involved now days in plastic production, I showed him a lid. He trimmed off a slight burr from the round part of the lid that goes into the hole and another slight burr around the hole. Voila ! I now have working Lock n Lock cereal containers. He said hold a sharp blade 90 degrees from the burr and apply uniform pressure.
