How to fix those defective Lock n Lock cereal containers

I got stuck with a batch of cereal containers where you have to take off the entire lid as the spout won't open.  Back in the recesses of my mind I remember DH telling me he worked at a plastic injection molding plant in his youth.  So I reasoned this flaw out and thought perhaps it was a faulty die that was punching these out.  He told me seams were always trimmed by hand.  Since I figured no human hands are involved now days in plastic production, I showed him a lid.  He trimmed off a slight burr from the round part of the lid that goes into the hole and another slight burr around the hole.  Voila !  I now have working Lock n Lock cereal containers.  He said hold a sharp blade 90 degrees from the burr and apply uniform pressure.

@depglass. I think you should post your address so everyone can send their lids to your hubby.
