Re: How important is your dishwasher?

It's a 10 for me, and I run it at least once per day.  Using your dishwasher actually conserves water, for all of those who are thinking you are saving water by hand washing.

Aside from the convenience, I feel that the dishes, particularly the flatware and the glasses are really CLEAN (as in germ free.)

Re: How important is your dishwasher?

@faeriemoon   As I said in an eariler post my parents hot water heater was set to lava temp. When my Mother filled the sink to do dishes you could barely stand reach in the water grab a cup to wash it was so hot.  Everything got rinsed in hot water too.

Your hands were beet red washing dishes. No known germs could survive my Mother's dish washing. Surgery could have been done with her knives. lol

Re: How important is your dishwasher?

A dishwasher for me now is considered a nice convenience, however, it only gets run about once a week.

It's just me and DH and kitty.  So if I have to rank it "1 to 10", hmmmm....I'll say a 5 on need, but a 10 on why not?

enjoy your dishwashers!  the newer ones are amazing.

Re: How important is your dishwasher?

Not at all important. Now, it's just DH and I but, even when the kids were here I never needed one. Plus, I'm a "clean up as I go" kind of person in the kitchen. And even if we had one, our pets' bowls wouldn't be mingled with ours.

@panda1234

Whenever I think of it, I throw my entire key chain of keys in for a good wash.... just make sure to remove the fob for the car.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 Too funny. My mother's water was very hot like that.....you could see the steam rise.

Re: How important is your dishwasher?

My Bosch dishwasher is very important to me. It is just the three of us and when it is full I run it. I could never get everything as clean as the dishwasher and it uses less water. When having people over or baking for the holidays it runs nonstop. Having it keeps my sink empty no dirty dishes to look at.

10!  I would never rent an apartment or buy a house that didn't have one. Our vacation rental had a full kitchen that included a dishwasher and a small washer and dryer because those things are necessities of life now.  We run it daily in the evening after dinner.

Pretty much indispensible for me! So I'm going to say 10.

Not only did my harp teacher insist that I not wear rings & bracelets, but that I not hand wash dishes, which would ruin my finger pads for playing my instrument.

And I don't know if anyone else ever came across this phenomenon, but my nails also seem to grow faster whenever my hands are in water. So, also not good for a playing musician.

Good excuses, huh?

@Harpa  My mom loved harp music. I hired a harpist to play during her memorial mass and the reception. I got so many compliments from those in attendance.
