no range here......we have a cooktop and a built in oven. i would say if you get 12 -15 years out of a range or cooktop or built in then you did pretty well.

@ECBG : Before my kitchen remodel in 2016- I had the whirlpool accubake. The salesman stated it was the best brand for baking cakes or  pound cakes. Never could get it adjusted. Cakes would be over baked or have a tunnel in the center that remained gummy. I baked a lot of pound cakes for gifts and church sales. I now have the gas cook top and electric double wall oven - GE products and love them. I inherited Mom's stove in June of 1977 and had to replace it in 1978 can't remember brand. Moved in 2002 and house had some off brand and replaced it with the Whirlpool. While making my purchases in 2016 the salesman stated for current appliances life span good if they last 8 years no more 20 to 25 years.

I have a Bosch dual fuel (propane top, convection electric oven) that is 15 years old and going strong.  If it died tomorrow, I would buy the same thing.  Being able to cook in power outages is important to me.  LovemyBosch appliances.

I am in Canada.  I second the comments about buy now because there will be a delivery delay.  I bought a new fridge and washing machine and had to wait weeks (8) for delivery.  My purchases were before the pandemic so I suspect it is worse now.  LM

I’ve been cooking for 60 years now.  I bought my first new range when the oven in the old stove had 2 temperatures. - off and 650. The second one came over 20 years later when 2 of the second burner died. The most recent was about 10 years back.  I replaced the 15 year old builder’s stove in my condo.   I hated it from day 1, so when it needed a repair over $200, that decision was easy.

i expect to replace the white appliances in my condo kitchen when/if the right time comes to redo.  Most likely not until late 2021 or beyond.

When the old one dies! In 36 years, bought my second one a year ago. ***side note*** The refrigerator in my garage, which was once in my kitchen, is forty years old. I got it when I was expecting oldest ds. He'll  be forty in January. The one in my kitchen now is only my second one in forty-six years. They don't make appliance to last like they use too!

We built our house in 1986 so I got a cheapy one then. In 1994 I got a newer cheapy one that is still going strong. It's a frigedaire smooth top. Same wth my refer, but I did replace my dishwasher a couple years ago.  My 1986 kitchen needs a make over  and IF that ever happens while I am still alive....I will replace the old appliances too.
