How Much "Dead" Space Is In Your Kitchen Cabinets?

I have an area where the glasses and crystal mugs are rarely used!  Heck!  Where is a box?????

I have a use for that area!

Isn't that frustrating? The first week of my retirement, I went through all the cupboards and sorted what was expired, what wasn't used, etc.... still end up doing it occasionally as things keep piling up.

Most of the stuff in my kitchen cabinets gets used at least occasionally. But there are probably a few things I could get rid of!

We're in the middle of boxing things up and clearing rooms in advance of having new flooring installed next week throughout the bottom floor of our house.

OMG, the amount of "stuff"!  So many things we've bought that seemed like a good idea at the time, but that we haven't looked at in more than a year (at least).

We've both agreed that only a fraction of what we're packing up is ever going to go back into the rooms.  The rest will be donated.

You know you have too much unnecessary stuff, when you find a box which contains the unused ordered items AND the invoice still on the outside of the box!  Ordered from QVC, of course.  In 2019.  Woman Embarassed

Believe it or not, I still have a punch bowl and cups. It's in that cabinet I can't reach above the refrigerator.

Zero. I've moved enough times to weed out anything that is not currently useful.  However, the cabinets above my fridge and those above my microwave are completely empty.  I'm only 5' tall and can't reach them even with my small stepstool, so I decided to leave them empty. In my experience, those areas are where useless items go to die.

Re: How Much "Dead" Space Is In Your Kitchen Cabinets?

I got rid of a ton of dusty, unused glasses, mugs, mis= matched dishes, even tupperware and lock-n-lock a few years back when I moved out of my house I sold-- I put some in my storage unit as my new apt has a tiny kitchen to had to pick and choose . Now to me, dead space means an open box, like a cabinet where you fill the bottom up but  there is a ton of open space at the top---I found all sorts of expandable shelves to be able to stack things to use that wasted space--my very few cabinets are really nicely organized now. Forgive me if I mis -understood.Woman Frustrated

I have a very small kitchen and it's overflowing.  I have an air fryer and overflow pantry items in my spare bedroom.  My problem is I use most of what I have.  I do need to go through a couple of cabinets and get rid of a few items and then reorganize a couple more cabinets.

Yep, last year when we moved, we got rid of all sorts of gadgets and little things we didn't use, we either donated them, or just threw them out! It does free up a lot of space in cabinets and drawers!!!!

While I don't live with "stuff", I have things that aren't used often like an open roaster and full sheet pans.

That said, no doubt as soon as I donate an item, I'll wind up needing it! 🙄
