I used to have a Cuisnart and now I have a KA.  I keep it on the counter (even though I don't have alot of counter space).  I use it several times a week.  If I need alot of cheese I will shred it, make scones in it, make sauces, etc.,  Mine does fine in the top rack of the dishwasher.  I don't chop vegetables with it I just use a knife.
