How Many are NOT Doing a Big Thanksgiving Meal?

ME! We aren't going anywhere, and will be roasting a duck, baking a couple of potatoes, and having some collard greens, but not a big meal as such. Don't you start at this time of the year to think everyone in the WORLD but you must be going somewhere or having company? {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Re: How Many are NOT Doing a Big Thanksgiving Meal?

Me....we are going to a restaurant and will probably have a big meal, but I am not cooking it. Thanksgiving is the only Holiday of the year that I am not cooking the meal, so I am happy that we started this new (for us) tradition about 10 years ago.

My mother and I are eating our Thanksgiving meal at a restaurant, which has been our tradition for the last couple of years. It's not worth cooking and putting out the entire holiday spread for only two people.

I am cooking traditional Thanksgiving favorites, for 3 of us, but no big holiday meal. No company, and no traveling.

We had ours last week with the church. I cooked for them. Just 2 of us and am happy. He'll watch ballgames and I'll go to Walmart LOL

I'll be home alone and surely won't be doing much in the way of cooking.

Re: How Many are NOT Doing a Big Thanksgiving Meal?

I stopped cooking for this holiday 30 years ago. We go to nice restaurants and celebrate. I love it, no cooking, cleaning, etc.

I do purchase a pre-cooked turkey breast, corn pudding, cranberry relish and my new favorite, maple roasted sweet potatoes, ALL from Trader Joe's. You can't beat their products.

I make my pumpkin pie, but I do this the weekend after Thanksgiving.

TJ's has everything I want, and it's always in servings which leave little left over.

We will be going to a friend's home for Thanksgiving, but I plan to make a turkey breast for leftovers. Gotta love turkey sandwiches!

Re: How Many are NOT Doing a Big Thanksgiving Meal?

I am not going anywhere at all. My friend (another widow) and I are both staying home. She said she might go out somewhere, maybe I'll go with her.

I don't care for turkey. When my husband was alive I'd make these huge dinners and my family would come and bring people (I've often had over 60 people come). I feel like, "Been there....done that".

My daughter invited me to go with her and her family to her mother-in-law's house but I don't like to drive in the dark and it isn't that important to me.

So, I'll probably just stay home. I don't feel like I've missed anything.
