I'm going to have what I want. Generally, It's rare that I eat bread. It no longer calls to me. After the holidays I'll go back to my usual.

I'm obsessed with maintaining my weight so I really only l "splurge" on Christmas dinner....meaning turkey and trimmings, and pumpkin and pecan pie . Then the day after, it's back to eating like a bird ...🙄

I'm on Weight Watchers. I sailed through TG and plan on doing the same for Christmas. I seem to do better when there are lots of people. I imagine them secretly watching me to see if I slip up. LOL
For TG, my first plate was plain turky breast and green beans seasoned with bacon (not the famous casserole). My 2nd plate was the same. No dessert. I did pretty well!
My MIL tried to get me to get dessert and I told her I would pretty soon. I never did! YAY!

OK, I'll be honest. I will eat like I always do, which is minimally. Honestly, it's a fruit/vegetable smoothie and plain shredded wheat for the most part every day, some yogurt maybe. I plain feel better that way. In fact, I've lost weight since Thanksgiving - about 5 lbs. I didn't try to, but I like it! I enjoy preparing meals for my husband, and all the trappings that go with it, like the shopping and planning, and serving.
Happy holidays, and have some pie for me - preferably pumpkin, right off the counter at room temp. I love the idea but it just doesn't sit right with me anymore.

After years of fixing holiday meals and having the kids come in and tell me that they are not hungry because they ate at their in laws (reason 1) and my dad was getting up in years and just didn't want to go out in the cold anymore, (reason 2)
We all came up with the idea of a big no gift summer picnic that we call Christmas.....it has worked out so well for us and more family shows because of the weather it just worked......so we tend to maybe over do a little then but nothing like stuffing till you burst.......lol
Do I like not having family at the holidays? Not really cause there are getting so many that no one has a house that can hold them all and when we are all outside in the summer everyone is happier.....and not scrunched in a little house.....lol

Well...... I would like to load up my dinner plate with huge helpings of Xmas food---but my tummy would kick my tookus if I did, so I will be as conservative as I am now and only eat tiny amounts of goodies. Not so much into sweets anymore and trying to stay away from the nasty white ingredients/food--bread, rice, spuds, pasta. Will eat protein and fresh veg/fruits and call it good.

Petit fours, bon bons and candy is my downfall. I ordered less than I normally do. So that's a good thing.
Worse than the food, is I haven't exercised in months.

@grannyjan,What a wonderful, unique tradition you have come up with! Our family is small so we don't have that problem.

My eating doesn't change much except for Christmas day itself, when we gather with DH's huge family. Then I might tend to eat a little more because of the variety. But it is the cookies that do me in. Not cake, pie, other desserts, just cookies.
I am a cookie monster, especially home made holiday cookies.
