How Cooked Do You Do Fresh Green Beans?

I love green beans.  Not the "greasy cut shorts" that had a lot of beans in them.  LOVE the green part.  My favorite variety is "pole beans".  They are very flat.  I cook them with Goya Pork Seasoning, and my grandsons have always loaded up on them.

I cook mine through.  I don't want a crunch, although, I like raw green beans and spinach dip.

Cut both ends off and cook in the microwave until they are cooked

I cut off both ends too.  I put them in a saucepan with a steamer basket and steam them.  When they are done, I sprinkle with a little grated cheese.  Tasty and nutritious.

Just steamed in a basket.  I like them a little crunchy and plain.

@ECBG  I agree with you. I love pole beans, though they're increasingly hard to find and I don't enjoy crunchy green beans if they've supposedly been cooked. They don't have to be cooked to a mush, but they do need to be on the soft side.

Trim off both ends.  Put into a pot with 1/2 cup of water, chopped onions, 3 TBLS of white vinegar, then the MOST important thing.  4 TBLS ham base.

Cover, cook until desired done ness.

I like them practicaly raw.  Gotta have crunch.  I like to eat them as finger food.  Streamed or sauteed, slightly blackened.

@stevieb We cook alike!!!  Come on over!

I have found them at my Publix, although, I haven't been there in a long time.  Not fond of the thin green beans from local farmers unless it's for a dip.

LOVE green beans!  Especially with potato salad, deviled eggs, and fresh sliced tomatoes!

@ECBG

My favorite ways with green beans:

#1-stir fry in hot wok or sautée pan with onions, ginger, and garlic.  Add grilled shrimp, sliced flank steak, or sliced chicken breast,  optional..

#2-sautéed with bacon, and onions. Sliced mushrooms optional.
