Didn't know what hot chocolate bombs were until this board !

Saw in the circular from Ollie's that they have them on sale.

Did you know you can make hot chocolate bombs at home?

i make a lot of homemade candy for Christmas.  I noticed that you can buy the molds for the bombs. i got the molds and will try to make them.

i also plan to use the molds with other creamier candy fillings.  I hope they are worth it.

What is this hot chocolate bomb of which you speak?   I saw some in the store yesterday and was puzzled.

My SIL makes these to keep in her freezer for hot cocoa 'emergencies':

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (milk chocolate doesn't get firm, I tried)

1 cup heavy cream

1/4 tsp salt

Microwave all ingredients in bowl until smooth, about 2 minutes.

Refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours in my fridge.

Roll 3-tbsp pieces into balls and wrap individually in plastic wrap.  Store in freezer.

To use:  Place one ball and 1 cup milk in mug.  Microwave until hot and smooth, about 2 minutes.
