Honeybell oranges are the same as..

I was in our local Publix and asked the produce mgr. if they had Honeybells -- he told me about Florida Minneola oranges.  They are the same shape as the Honeybells sold on Q.

They were $1.29/lb but boy they are delicious! If you looking for a good, juicy sweet orange try these.

Yes, Honeybells and minneolas are one and the same. This topic comes up around this time every year. Quite possibly the Honeybell name is trademarked. Why pay the exorbitant price offered for them on QVC, when you can get them in the grocery store for much, much less? JMO.

When I was in the grocery store last weekend, the oranges were pretty sad looking.  I'm in the Midwest.  I don't buy fruit in bulk, but can see why others may consider the honeybells.

Yep, I bought some last week.  They were 99 cent each that day.  Today they were 2/.99

Our Costco has all the oranges you mentioned. All good.  We did buy the Honeybells and I do like them as well.  If given a taste test blindfolded I doubt I would know the difference.

Here in Louisiana we have Satsumas - they are definitely sweeter than the Honeybells I've tried.  I don't know if they are availaable in otheer areas

A satsuma is a tangerine not a tangelo though. Honeybells are a tangelo.

It brightens my winter when Satsumas make their appearance in the stores. I also have a little tree but it's only producing tiny Satsumas at the moment; it's a young tree.
