Help!! Need incentive to use my Vitamix.

I purchased a Vitamix last fall. At first I used it, but after a few weeks, I stopped. Would you all who use this machine give me some incentive to start using it again? I'm interested in juicing, didn't realize I could do it with the Vitamix. Do you have to add water or other liquid?

Thank you!

Re: Help!! Need incentive to use my Vitamix.

It depends on what you're trying to juice. Some fruits/vegetables have plenty of their own natural juice & others don't. I usually just experiment a little with it. Adding ice might provide enough liquid for the consistency you want.

As for motivation, the local farmers markets are starting to open everywhere, so maybe when you see & smell all the fresh produce it will make you want to make juices & smoothies, or soups, or sorbets, or whatever you like. Have fun!

Re: Help!! Need incentive to use my Vitamix.

Local Farmers market is a great Idea. I do a simple green smoothie that you can modify and it really fills you up and gets you to eat your fruits a veggies for the day.

Green grapes

1 apple

Slice of Pinapple

1 banana

Spinach, as much as you can take.

Ice.

I put it in the vessel in the order i listed it. I use at least 1/2 a tray of ice cubes and sometimes a whole one. If you need to get a little liquid you can add a little bit of water.

So easy and yummy and from there you can add and subtract. I love my vitamix and try to use it every week at least a few times.

Re: Help!! Need incentive to use my Vitamix.

I like to make my version of smoothies by tossing in a few ice cubes, 2% milk and a few frozen strawberries or slices of frozen peaches. If it is not sweet enough I will toss in a little honey or sweetener package.

IMHO it is the only way to mix flour and water for gravy.

In winter I like to use mine to "cream" veggies in soup. I just dump in a cup or two of the veggies from the soup and zap till smooth then add back to the soup to thicken the broth. Squash, carrots spuds or peas work great as a thickener.

Re: Help!! Need incentive to use my Vitamix.

I have a 35 year old Vitamix that I use everyday for smoothies. I use water and a 100% fruit juice as the base and add my veg/fruits of choice. I also add ice cubes and have added ricemilk or almond milk as a base too. I have made peanut butter in it and have ground up grains into flour. Have yet to try a soup tho. I have all the original recipe pamphlets from the 80's when this machine was new which is kind of fun but haven't really used them. There is a ton of info online so do some research.
