Re: Heads up for pressure cooker lovers

I use my 4 qt a lot for the 2 of us, then, I do use the 6 too.

Don't use the 8 very much 'cept for ribs and it's oval too.

I got ovals and rounds and a instant pot.

Re: Heads up for pressure cooker lovers

@SharkE - I have an 8 qt. oval in hard anodized from the CE Technique brand that QVC sold years ago.  I'd like to replace it as it is so heavy, the gasket smells like meat (can't find a replacement gasket) and the non-stick seems to be going.  I can't find an oval PC anywhere.  I really like the oval shape as chickens, roasts, ribs, etc are all oval.  Is your oval the same as I mentioned or do you have another brand?  TIA

Re: Heads up for pressure cooker lovers

Just note...it has a non-stick inner liner, not a stainless steel.

IMO...spending $20~ more for a 3qt Instant Pot with a

stainless steel liner is worth it.

I buy refurbished from amazon they're the only place you will find any ovals, period. Never had any trouble with them being reburished.

For some reason Q doesn't sell ovals any more. You have to dig thru the internet for them.  @WORKING GAL

Re: Heads up for pressure cooker lovers

@WORKING GAL - I hate it when my gasket starts to smell! If your gasket is still in good shape and the only problem is the scent, you could try this fix to deodorize it:

•Place 2 cups of water and 2 quartered lemons in the cooker.

•Run the machine on the "Steam" setting for 2 minutes.

•When the time is up, allow the pressure to release naturally.

•Open the cooker carefully, remove the gasket, and allow it to air dry.

I've also heard that people have had success by simply cooking a batch of potatoes for mashing in the cooker to neutralize the odor, but I haven't tried that yet. Good luck!

Re: Heads up for pressure cooker lovers

We use our 3 qt. Instant Pot all the time.  We have a second inner container for it; plastic lids so we can just slap one on and store leftovers in the fridge; a glass lid; racks and such.

It's easy to find recipes for it or just halve them, and the inner pots are stainless steel, which to us is a must.

Re: Heads up for pressure cooker lovers

never heard of a 3 qt

2, 4, 6, 8 I thought were standard sizes.

I don't have a 2, but, thinking about it, why, I don't know LOL

@SharkE. Ha!  Now you've got "3" on the brain haven't you?  LOL!!!

We just love ours.  Especially since they make extra liners and lids and such to fit it.  I'd think 2 would be a little small.  We can do a nice sized small roast in ours, boiled eggs, and pork tenderloins (I cut them in half and they curl in) with some squash or other veggie on top even.

We have a steamer basket for it, so that makes eggs easy. I think WalMart and places usually carry them!

BUT I haven't seen one in RED!  Woman Sad
