Useful, but they lost me at the scale!

Re: Have you got extra time to make coffee?: Pour over instructions

I've been making coffee this way for years.  Way before it was hip to do it.  I love pour over coffee.  I don't use a scale at all.  I eye ball how much coffee I use for the amount of water.

This is my favorite type of coffee. I don't use a scale either. I don't do it every day since it takes more time but it's nice when you really want a good cup of coffee you can savor.

I make my coffee this way using a Melitta pour over filter. Don't do the weighing on the scale. Works great. Switched to this method from Keurig to reduce waste.

Thank you, thank you HomeGirl. I just tried this in my small tea pot that has a filter. I used my Starbucks Espresso blend and it is delicious!

I really dislike the taste of pour over coffee.

Re: Have you got extra time to make coffee?: Pour over instructions

I made coffee that way every day for about six months.

The water pump on my little 4cup coffee maker stopped pumping. So I set the brew basket on the open pot, added filter & coffee, and poured in boiling water.

The coffeemaker's warming plate still worked so I still used that to keep the pot hot.

Six months later I found a fabulous price on a similar coffeemaker.

  The scale?

Beats me. 😶

When I get up in the morning, the only 'extra time' I have to make coffee, is the time it takes to hit the ON button.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

When we had no power for 10 days after Sandy and no stove top perculator this was how we made our coffee!

I'm able to light the burner with a match should I have to.

Re: Have you got extra time to make coffee?: Pour over instructions

This is hubby's new way of making coffee minus the scale.  See my post about me creating a coffee snob.  I never expected him to change over from Keurig, but he's loving it.  He wasn't creating waste with the Keurig since he was already grinding his own and using the My-K-Cup.  Now I get to get the Keurig off the counter.
