Have you ever tried to microwave fresh sliced mushrooms? in a little butter or oil?

[ Edited ]

Have you ever tried to microwave fresh sliced mushrooms? in a little butter or oil? In a little seasoning or soy sauce?

Just curious about your results.

I always saute mine.  You might be able to cook them in the microwave if you covered the bowl with plastic wrap and checked frequently for doneness?

I don't think I'd ever be tempted to try that.  I sauté mine in butter on the stove.

Interesting idea, but I think that due to their spongy texture you would get hot mushy mushrooms.

Never in the microwave, I would think if would come out rubbery?

I usually saute in a sauce pan with a little butter & olive oil, cooks really fast, cover then I add a little Ponzu sauce (lemon w/soy sauce) before serving.

No haven't tried that. I have roasted in oven and airfryer with good success. The oven is actually easier ( less cleanup) and I can use oils or sauces without creating smoke. 90% of time I don't sauté mushrooms on top of stove anymore. Depending on recipe,  I will also sauté onions in oven.

Edited to add...the reason I do mushrooms and onion in oven is to get the meal done quicker. As onions and mushrooms are baking, I am cooking meat, making sauce/gravy, etc. Everything comes together in 30 minutes or so. I also make risotto in the oven. I like quick, tasty food.

As others have said I saute them on the stove.  Doesn't take very long.  As for using the oven, our electric oven takes 15 minutes to get to 425.  I rarely use our oven!!

I saute mushrooms with olive oil, garlic, and add a splash of wine. I DON'T cook any food in a microwave.
