@scruffsmom I will bet he learned a lesson and has stopped that nonsense.  It wasn't about what side he was on, it was about the mean tone of the messages and the fact that he would insult his customers by berating them if they were on one side or another. Lots of people here were shocked.  It was quite some time ago.

There is just no place for that in running a business-and I hope he learned a lesson.  I don't have any use for people who can't at least remain civil and certainly not someone who would berate customers!

@toja I got an offensive e-mail from their founder a few years ago and haven't bought since.  I appreciate and welcome other views, but his was simply offensive on any level.  Made me very very sad because I was a huge fan of their products, but you don't treat customers this way.

I just have a hard time with that brand of intolerence in any form from any viewpoint.  No need for that kind of behavior. . .

I have to agree with Sooner on this.  I love Penzy's and used to buy from them all the time until I started to get those emails too but they turned me off to the point that I never purchased from them again!  I'm there to make a purchase.....Period! Someone who is in business is there to sell their product not to use their customer base as a soap box to express their personal views on anything.  Just my opinion.

I also receive Penzey's emails. I don't generally read them. I emailed Bill once to tell him what I thought. LOL!!!

I still order spices from him. I imagine he ticked off a lot of people that no longer buy from him.

He didn't tick me off. I agree with him 100%. I buy Penzey's spice now exclusively as I find them the best. There's store in Overland Park KS. The first time I was there, I was there 4 hours!
