Has anyone used an electric skillet to make a cake?

I bought thevLorena Garcia electric skillet and they showed on air to make a cake.  I can't find any recipes online that suggests temperature and any changes to the directions.

Re: Has anyone used an electric skillet to make a cake?

Back in the late 1960's I did!  Yes, in the olden days I had an oven that was so off it was hard to bake.  I made best friends with my Sunbeen skillet that I received as a wedding gift.  I made everything in it, including cake and cookies!!

I remember I made the best Pineapple upside down cake.  I think I made a Jiffy cake mix with the pineapple juice from sliced pineapple, then melted butter, covered pan with brown sugar, placed sliced pineapple end to end, placed cherry in center and covered with the cake mix.  I remember cooking it covered, then removing cover in the last stages.  you let it sit for a while, and dug in/  I turned it onto a plate and it was beautiful.

I also made that chococake where you pour everything into the pan into little wells, then mix.  It is a deep, moist, rich cake.

I also made hobo bread but cooked it in flat cans.  You can bake a cake with a rack.  The recipes are specific on how long and  the temp to cook,  But they work well

Like shoekitty, I too used my Sunbeam electric skillet to bake.  My husband and I loved the pineapple upside cake, and I used that same recipe to make a fresh peach upside down cake, and an apple upside down cake.  I baked homemade pizza in the skillet and seem to remember baking brownies and another dessert as well.   That electric skillet and my Sunbeam Crocker, cooker, fryer were the two most used wedding gifts I received.  I was very sad when they stopped working.

This should make you happy, then:

There's currently a brand new, never-used, vintage one for sale on Ebay, from an Akron, NY reputable seller.

You can buy it now, or make an offer you can better afford.

A reasonably-priced warranty is available as well.
