I've had my Kitchenaid stand mixer for 15 years, and it seems the lock for the tilt head may be broken or worn out. I've tried all the suggestions found online, so far no luck. I've found a local business that will service it so I'm planning on taking it in. I am curious though, has anyone had their mixer serviced?
Thank you

I have a vintage KA mixer I inherited from my Mom. It started leaking grease and I wanted to get it fixed but could not find anyone local. So my DH went online and looked up how to do the repair and did it himself. He did a great job, and it is working like a dream now.Mine is 74 years old.

I did locate a local KA certified repair service. My problem was minor....it was with my 9-speed hand mixer. The decal for the speed control was lifting. Contacted to see if I could get a replacement piece. Gentleman informed me they couldn't provide this replacement part. It runs fine, so the label is now secured with shipping tape!! LOL My stand mixer is doing good despite lots of use in the past 20 years.

LOL!!!! I had one of those as well. I was using it about 25 years ago, and got an electrical shock from it. I replaced it immediately with a new model, which is great. It's hardly ever used, though, so it's still like new.

i have two kitchenaids.......one is 28 years old (a wedding gift.....white).......the other is about 57 years old (my moms.....avocado green). i have never had to have either of them serviced.....hope i never have to. i wonder how much it costs to service them and whether or not it is better to just upgrade to a new model?

My current KA mixer is almost 30 years old and shortly after I got it I had a problem with it. I found a local authorized repair shop and they fixed it promptly under warranty. Have had no other issues.

I purchased my sister a KA mixer for XMas a few years ago and it stopped working one day with no warning. I called KA and they sent us a box to return it to them. In about a week, they sent her a new mixer. I don't know if hers could be fixed or not. Anyway, she was happy.

No, but I thought I was going to. I keep mine sitting out on the counter. One day when I pulled it out there was a little puddle of grease on the counter where it had been sitting. Upon closer inspection I could see that it was running from the head down through the hollow area in the stand. I finally figured out it was because I was storing the mixer with the tilt head in the up position. Once I stopped doing that the grease leak stopped.

Their initial quote was $100 for repair, site unseen, so upon inspection it could be more or less.
I had the same thought, maybe just get a new one, but it seems wasteful to give up on the one I have that, really, still works fine.
I make a lot of dough, so I've honestly thought of upgrading to the bowl-lift since it has more wattage and wouldn't have the head lifting issue. I just hate to do it because I have built a nice collection of extra bowls for my tilt-head. I suppose I could sell them and put the money towards the bowl-lift model.
Oh, if only a sweet TSV was coming up!!
Thanks for all the feedback

Do I understand correctly - you already have 2 KA mixers that have never needed serviced and now you want to get a third one?
