I could never be a host, now there's a news flash but I couldn't eat the food like some of the hosts do. There's some things I refuse to eat. I don't like gummy/chewy/sticky food. There's no telling how long that food has been on display. I can't eat sweet, then savory or vice versa and back & forth. Although DV is silly about the yum yum face and the happy dance, I have to give him credit, he is very professional about all the products.
And I also think it was Paul Kelly who gave the great answer about someone likes it, even if he doesn't.

A few years ago (maybe even last season) on the Apprentice it had Rick from QVC helping to show and sell products for the contestants. One thing they showed to help them was a controller (actual controller) talking in the contestants ears what to do to make sales move. He had in front of him a graph that moved as things sold. I think it might have been there or I read it that often (well that's an exaggeration....sometimes) when he does the happy dance it's because a product isn't selling as well. I'm not saying that's always the case but they said sales really move when he does that.
Lately, it seems like there are very few products he doesn't eat more than once. Ha! Maybe that's because he has enough priority that they sell what he likes. Ha!
Thanks for your input. I learn so much reading what everyone here puts into the conversation.
I think I read something like that in Kathy Levine's book. That is one of the reasons they wear the earpiece. When something wasn't selling well, the producer would suggest she say that her mother likes the item. Then the sales would rapidly go up. (many may remember her mother even joined her on a few shows so customers new her) Also, I think David likes everything or sure puts on a good act. Sometimes the combo of the foods he eats within a short period of time seems nauseating. I like David, but I could do without the "happy dance."

I have to wonder if people are really that gullible and believe what these hosts say to be gospel. Most people know if they like something, there is no need for the host to act goofy. I think there are lonely elderly people out there with plenty of disposable income who buy the food and anything else their favorite host is selling. I have never seen a host say or do anything to indicate they are anything but in love with the product they are selling.
