I bought the TSV in Jan 2015. Used it every weekday morning for a breakfast drink. So it was really used. Last week, it was stuck in the high position. Toggle it, nothing, turned dialed on variable speed, nothing, turned the switch to off.
Of course, I have to now clean the container. Bam - jarring high speed. Tried lowered the speed to low, nothing - used off switch.
I contaced Vitamix and they emailed a set of troubleshooting steps. My round piece with the gears on the base of the machine should be able to move but not come off. It came off. Vitamix sent me a UPS label and off it goes.
This is year 3 of a 5 year warranty. I wonder if this is a fluke and once it is fixed, it is fixed or this is something that happens every couple of years. Kinda it gets burned out and need a tuneup.
Have anyone else experience this?

I will have had my Vitamix for 5 or 6 years at the end of the summer. I love it! Use it for smoothies every morning. I didn't have your problem, but a few years ago, it was leaking oil into my food. The service dept was great. They sent me a new blade and a tool to change the blade. Also told me to not put protein powders into the blender first... rather put powders in last, as they are abrasive and could cause problems. I don't use protein powders anymore, but do use 7 shakes of cinnamon. It's always the last ingredient I add. So far, no further problems. Hopefully yours will be as good as new (or better!).

No it's not the norm. I know lots of people with Vitamix's and it's not normal for it to need servicing every couple years. I've had my 5200 for 6 years and it's never had an issue. I didn't buy it from from QVC.

@Yahooey ... no promises, but I think it will be as good as new..... which is better than 2.5 years old! Good luck!

My Vitamix from the Q is about 10 years old. I don't use it every single day but I do use it 3-4 times a week. I've never had any problems with it (knock on wood!).

ItsME: They sent you a new blade and a tool to change it? And you think that's great service?
I thought the pitch was that if anything goes wrong, you just send it back, they'll fix it or replace it and return it to you, and they'll pay postage both ways.
Oh well.

@Yahooey I am sorry this happened to you, but I am sure it was just a fluke not the norm. I have had mine now for 4 years in August and it runs just fine. The good thing with Vitamix is that they stand behind their products. But it is annoying nevertheless.

@Cats3000 They could have sent a new container, but that wasn't needed. The unit itself worked fine and didn't need to be replaced. They paid the postage, as they should have. I'm a satisfied customer!

@ItsME I am so glad you were able to work with Vitamix to resolve your issue at a lower cost as opposed to shipping the entire unit back at a much greater cost. Good on you my friend and long may you blend!
