A local girl and her sisters have opened a bakery in town. She said we needed a bakery, so they opened one. They have no formal training, just good old home baking. I went in to see what she had, and asked if she did Danish Pastry. She said no. I said "I need to come and play", meaning I'd show her how to make them. I made two batches of dough yesterday, and it was ready for the folding and shaping today. I got there at 8:30 this morning, and showed her how to roll out the dough and do the 3-Fold (letter) and 4-fold (book). We did part of the dough with a spiral round shape and other shapes. We used an apple and cherry filling and semi-sweet chocolate stick. She loved the chocolate ones. She rolled out the last batch of dough and did the folds and made a cinnamon roll ring. Lastly we made a Moravian Sugar Cake. All of this will be sold tomorrow. I gave her a notebook of recipes I thought would sell. She can try them if she wants. She wants me to come back next Monday to make Crumb Buns. I took my King Arthur Catalogue and showed her some items that were nice to have. I circled them and she was going to place an order for what she wanted. I got finished about 1:00 and went home.
So I had fun today!!!
