HSN Cooking Show Featuring Inferior Items ??

Watching the HSN show a bit this morning I see items featured that I AND others not only have rated, but have rated low. Many of these items have either more or almost as many 1 star as 5 star reviews.

I wonder if HSN is trying to deplete stock or??

What items are you including in this? I do think it's a clearance, so they are trying to clear the shelves. At least the prices are good, even it's junk!

oh please, like the Q doesn't hawk a lot of junk. I saw a frying pan on Shop HQ this weekend for less than 10 bucks.

Re: HSN Cooking Show Featuring Inferior Items ??

One item that I quickly returned was the pizza oven as it was poor quality and did not compare to some others that work well that I have used.

Another item was the knifes (Aerosharp) and rather than getting charged the postage to return, I sharpened one to a razorlike edge and am using the serrated one to open my packages. Without sharpening the plain edge blade, it did not meet my sharpness requirement.

On the other hand a good product and price is the Stoneware microwave cooker but with the 20% coupon at BB&B that is an even better deal.

I am not sure about the chop chop. but it has some advantages over other similar products and I might get just to "rent" for a month to compare.

The Chop Chop is a combination Vegamatic and mandolin. If it's made well, I think it's a good idea. I do think they could have priced it for $10 less, though.

Of course the Q hawks a lot of junk too, but this particular thread was about the wares of hsn. Smiley Happy

As to this value of the day they have, it's definitely not for me. I figure if I have to do all the prep before using it and the knife is still in my hand, I might as well finish it off with the knife. Only one thing to wash and maintain, and it doesn't take up space. I have a lot of hand pain, like many others, but it's faster to just use good knives and be done with it, IMO.

Generally speaking, I've always thought that hsn sells an awful lot of junk - mostly poor quality wares for sure. Anybody who knows me knows I'm not a fan of hsn at all.

But I have to give hsn credit for this all-day cooking event. They seem to be having a lot more variety than usual and a lot of celebrity chef guests too. Usually, when they have a day-long event it seems like there are a total of about 6 to 8 items that are shown over and over ad nauseam, with no variety. On this day I've seen quite a few things.

Sure, there is the stuff like the Debbie stuff that I wouldn't touch for free. But it seems like they have been selling some pretty decent stuff this time around. I've actually watched a fair amount of it.

I was kind of surprised that Wolf was not one of their guests but I would imagine that he would require that he is the main point of interest or else he would not do it. Since Curtis is the guy with the TS, that would leave out Wolfgang as the main attention-grabber.

I actually forgot to check in to ITKwD this morning but I checked the list and it seems I didn't miss a thing. Same stuff, different day.

Regardless of the quality of the items they are selling, at least they do appreciate their customers better by offering more Flex pays and free shipping, that is rarely seen here, and I do appreciate that..........and the quality can run toe to toe on both channels from time to time.......{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

ITA, chickie. I know that it's not expensive, but to me, it looked downright cheap besides being cumbersome -- plus way too many parts for me.

The reviews are gone from HSN, but by googling, I saw that the rating was 2.9.

"Rent"?!!!? You mean order it with the express purpose of NOT keeping it, but wanting to try it for free? That's like the scam of buying a dress, wearing it, and returning it. Abusing returns like this raises the costs for all of us. Grrr!
