HELP! Immersion Blender ruined my pot

I used a cooks esstenials color smart port and the blender destroyed the bottom-gouged and removed the coating.{#emotions_dlg.sad}

Is there a cookware type; stainless steel, hard annodized, etc., which is safe using an Immersion Blender?

Is there an Immersion brand which is safe on pant/pots?

thanks

I would not be using that one again. I have never had an Immersion Blender cause any damage to a pot. Most are designed to prevent that. What brand do you have? I certainly want to avoid it.

I don't think it's about the immersion blender. I think it's more about the fact that it was used in a pot that has nonstick coating. I could be wrong, but I would think, just logically, that it is not a good idea to use this sort of thing in a pot with nonstick coating.

I'm still trying to figure out how the blade touched the pan. All immersion blender blades are inside a metal/plastic protective case.....of course, unless that portion is broken, then...

It is not possible for my Braun Immersion blender to scratch the surface. The blades cannot touch the surface because they are recessed. What is the brand of your immersion blender?

Regarding cookware, I have 18/10 stainless steel so there is no coating to worry about.

I managed to cut a hole in the bottom of a plastic tub I was using with an immersion blender, so I believe OP. I got a wet mess all over my counter. I learned not to use plastic tubs for blending.

Did you let the blender rest on the bottom of the pan? When I use the blender I keep it off the bottom, trying to keep it about in the middle of the soup being blended. My pans are Le Creuset.

That's odd. I've never had that happen, but I don't use mine in a non-stick pan.

I don't have an immersion blender, but when I used one at my SIL's, she reminded me not to let it touch the sides or bottom of her stock pot.

I keep my blender off the bottom and sides, too. I've always been afraid the vibrations from the blender blade would cause the stationary part to scratch the pan. But I could be wrong...
