Seriously?? When I grocery shop I spend half the time checking expiration dates and looking over packaging!! I can't imagine just grabbing the first thing in sight and not pay attention to what you will be ingesting.

Re: Groceries order and pick up?

I used a delivery service when I had my knee replaced last year and couldn't drive for a while.  It was wonderful.  The company is called PeaPod.  I did everything online.  They come when you want and everything was fresh and nothing broken.  I would use them again.

I need to look at the food I'm buying, and I like to look at labels and comparison shop. Also, I just like to get out and walk.

Re: Groceries order and pick up?

I wondered about these questions myself? I know I'm picky about the meat and produce that I select but if I'm paying $2.99/lb for peppers then I want "good" peppers. That said, I think it's a great option if you have health issues or are really stretched for time.

Re: Groceries order and pick up?

I do all of mine online now. When I first started I came across one store that did not please me on the produce and another that did not hold the frozen items in the freezer until I arrived. I found the one I have now and they guarantee to please or they replace for free. I have been very happy with them. It would be really hard to go back to doing my own all the time.

This is the problem with all shopping services, IMO.  @AnnieBelle is ok with this, but another person will have a fit because there is no zucchini.  The shopper cannot win because she cannot know each client's individual preferences.    It is very difficult to shop for someone else.   IMO, the client has to realize this and know that the end result will NOT be the same as if she herself did it.

Re: Groceries order and pick up?

This is very popular in my area. I see the Shop Rite truck delivering groceries quite a bit to different neighbors on my block. I also don't mind the self-checkout registers. I always use them if they are available at a store I am shopping in. I love Walmart b/c I have the app and use Walmart Pay so after I scan my groceries I use my phone to scan the QR code on the screen and I am done. I no longer have to pull out my wallet. I just show my phone which has my receipt displayed to the person as I am exiting the store and I'm off to my car.

I order online & pickup...I include a note on each item that have freshness dates to look for the latest date & those items are packed separately, shown to me at pickup & I can accept them or they're taken off my order. Love the service & the store works hard to please so in turn I'm always on time, patient, polite & double check my paper coupons ...yes they notice please & thank you. The pickup fee is $4.95, a real bargain because I'm saving money with hundreds of online coupons, special deals & free items for using the service, extra gas points & no impulse buys. Another store has free pickups on Wednesday online orders. Just using the service only for heavy items like softener salt, cat litter, gallons of water & the like is worth it.

@Peaches McPhee, I do not choose to allow substitutions but request that they call and discuss with me what they have to offer or any concerns. My shopper always calls before finalizing the order.

Re: Groceries order and pick up?

I've been ordering a lot fromTarget and some from Walmart--all for home delivery and free shipping.  Mostly now I only shop for fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen and refrigerated items, meat/fish.  Works very well for me.
