Great value white corn and black bean salsa

This is my absolute favorite salsa, nice and chunky and very mild.  I just bought a jar this morning and didn't notice until i had opened and tasted it that the label said black bean and corn salsa.   It tastes totally different.  It says it is mild but it seemed really hot to me.  It's a different color too....a little darker.   My husband will like it because it is hotter but I'm really disappointed in it.   I checked the reviews on w-mart.com but they are still showing the old label.   Just wondered if anyone else who buys this had noticed a difference.  Thanks!

Sorry, but I'd prefer the new version. Mild salsa is blah.

@q lover

I wonder if Walmart switched to a different manufacturer for their salsa.

We love hot salsa, so I will take a look tomorrow when I am at Walmart.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

That's quite possible that the manufacturer has changed.   Those of you who like hot salsa may like this.  They are big jars and I believe they cost a little over 2 dollars.  They also have a couple of other flavors.   peach pinapple chipotle  and  cantina style.  Haven't tried either of those so don't know how good they are.

I haven't tried it. But I am hooked on Cocina Fresca cantina style that I get at Kroger. It's in the cooler section. I get the sweet onion mild, but it's spicy and the Jalapeno which is spicy, too. My son gets the habenero which will blow your head off...lol.   🐲They are really good and fresh tasting...like you get in good Mexican restaurants.

Re: Great value white corn and black bean salsa

This is absolutely my favorite salsa too.  I've purchased it many, many times over the years, and yes, it's such a good value....you get a nice big jar for a reasonable price.

I haven't bought it recently though, my WalMart is being revamped and a mess, so I have been reluctant to go there lately, so can't comment on the change, but I loved it just the way it was, so if it's different I won't be happy.

It is annoying when items you really like are changed like that.

Not the same thing, but I used to rely on the Great Value non-stick spray, butter flavor.  Recently all the spray cans I've gotten had sprayers that shoot the spray in a harsh sharp stream, that splatters over everything for several feet around the spraying area.  All the recent cans are like that, and they create a greasy mess on your countertops, or wherever you're spraying.  I decided I just have to stop buying this product, it's too much of a mess.  I guess the manufacturer is using a different brand spray nozzle, but it's just awful.

Re: Great value white corn and black bean salsa

@blueroses47  I hadn't bought it in a while and just a week or so ago I bought some and just re-purchased it today so it was quite a shock that it had changed.  I may check in another Wal-mart in my area and see if they still have any jars of the previous version and if so I'll snap them up.

I also used to buy Rinaldi pasta sauce in (I believe) sweet tomato flavor and it was wonderful but they quit carrying it.

There seem to be so many products that have changed in quality, quantity or taste.  I've also run across cans of their spray oil that didn't spray the way they are supposed to.

Re: Great value white corn and black bean salsa

I love the one I get at Wal-Mart.  The black bean and corn work really well together.  I wish they would bring back the World Table Corn Relish.  Used to eat it daily and very spicy.  Now you cannot even order online from them or from Amazon.
