Re: Good Basic Crock Pot Recipes needed.

@SouthernBee

Just saw a Facebook group titled "Easy Crockpot Recipes".

I was checking it out and saw some recipes I want to try. Maybe you will like some of the recipes.

Re: Good Basic Crock Pot Recipes needed.

You might look at the website 365daysofcrockpot dot com for recipes.

I know you mentioned you don't like chicken in the crockpot, and also have stomach issues, but if your stomach can tolerate BBQ sauce, and you ever want to try a super easy BBQ pulled chicken that is not dry just put BBQ sauce (I use Sweet Baby Rays) in the bottom of your crockpot, place boneless skinless chicken breasts on top of that (Note: you can season with more spices, but you mentioned you don't use many spices) and then top with more BBQ sauce and then cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours. Then just shred and serve with more sauce. It's great as is or as sandwiches on buns. Smells heavenly when cooking and tastes just as good.

As @AuntMame suggested I really like Fix it and Forget it, found 2 different versions on Amazon.

I'm a cookbook junkie and my "go to" for books is Thrift Books, a subsidiary of Amazon.  Great used books of all kinds at great prices (that vary with quality), free shipping if you spend $15, and deals to earn free books.  Also, if there is ever an issue with your order they will fix it.  One time I ordered 3 cook books and they sent me 3 novels.  They told me to keep the novels, which I donated to the library, and they sent me the correct books at no charge.  Another time I got a book with missing pages and they told me to keep it and they replaced it at no charge. My favorite place to buy books and have been buying from them for years.

@Sooner : We don't qualify for meals on wheels.

I am dealing with a very bad back and balance issues. Doing at home physical therapy .

I am totally scared trying to use my cook top.

Sunday used my pressure cooker for pulled pork bbq to make sandwiches. Used the microwave for corn on cobb and baked beans. Had to take a lot of breaks and tooked for  ever. DH eats out during the week but I try to cook for the week end.

Whenever I make soup or chili - I make a double batch to have enough to freeze for several meals.

@SouthernBee Have you checked out Meals on Wheels?  The one here states that the only qualification is a need.

My ex husband used these and he liked them.

They deliver Mon, Wed & Fri here.

That would help a lot.

@Zhills : I just double checked with my local agency. I am not eligible for Medicaid and not eligible for meals on wheels or a lot of other services.  I have United Health care medicare ppo.

I am currently checking prepared meal plans for me, DH not interested.

I have been eating Lean Cuisine and salads at least three times a week.

We cook pinto beans in our crockpot quite frequently.
An easy augratin cheese and ham dish on occasion, vegetarian stews and an easy chicken recipe using chicken tenders, cheese, cream of chicken or mushroom soup & diced green chili's which we serve over brown rice, potatoes, noodles, or simply with tortillas.

@SouthernBee

Have you considered foil packet meals?  So easy to put together, bake in a toaster oven, air fryer or oven, and no clean up.  I just read thru several recipes online by Taste of Home.

Re: Good Basic Crock Pot Recipes needed.

We keep canned white chicken (Kirkland is the best I think, Sams is good too) for soups, quick chicken and dressing, and salad-type sandwiches.  It is great not to have to cook it.

Drain the juice and rinse the chicken to lower the salt works for us.

@SouthernBee Meals on Wheels has two programs.  One is frozen meals delivered once a week and the other is for fresh warm meal delivered daily.

See if you can find both and try the other one.  Every state has the program working.

I've forgotten just where you are located.
