I have been tempted a few times to buy snacks from either Germack or Squirrel Brand. It seems one or the other is always having a special price/deal. I then read the reviews and they are generally mixed (for both brands). I have seen negative reviews like "mostly peanuts, stale taste, bad aftertaste, not worth the price", etc.
They seem to sell very well, so many people must be happy with them! I just saw the Germack Motown Mix presented and it looks good. Last week, Squirrel Brand had a special deal on the Town & Country Mix. It sold out! I read reviews for other configurations that included that mix and they were not good (3 stars).
So, out of curiosity, I was wondering if those of you have purchased either Germack, Squirrel or both could please weigh in on which brand is better.
Thanks so much!
Gloria

I have purchased both and they are good. My preference is Germack because their mixes are ALL nuts and dried fruit. No other fillers in Germack. The Squirel brand is full of other items, I would equate it to a fancy Chex Mix or Beer Mix that you see in the grocery store. Many cracker type items with a few nuts.
Again both were very good but Germack wins hands down in my opinion.

@GloriBee Squirrel Brand is the best. I ordered the Germack once. The family and I didn't like it - ended up throwing it away. All the Squirrel Brand items have been great - The Town and Country Mix, The Brown Butter Cashews and other configurations. All of them have not lasted very long in my house. They are nothing like the Chex Mix that another posted suggested.

I bought the Germack once, years ago--think it was a 3 pak of assorted nuts, fruits and candy---it came to me with mostly broken nuts and lots of dust in each jar---nothing like the beautiful large, whole or half nuts on TV ---had to put them in a colander to shake out the nut dust and then I used them in my baking--they tasted fine just the presentation was horrbile, could not gift them----don't know if UPS used the jars in a game of tennis first or what----

I like Germack better than Squirrel Brand because from the experiences I have had, Squirrel Brand seemed to be much saltier than Germack. By the time I got half way through the can, the salt must have settled down from the top and it was too salty to eat. Germack is not necessarily a healthy snack in my opinion. Sometimes it is like eating candy, but very tasty. No small pieces of nuts or crumbs at the bottom as others have stated they have dealt with. I found them very fresh. If you are looking for a healthy, more pure snack with less salt and less candy-like pieces, I suggest trying Ferris. HSN sells it, or they did, last time I checked.

@GloriBee When food reviews are mixed, the truth probably lies in what the reviewer likes so stars aside, I read for the details and decide based on what's important to me.
I sort of do that for other kinds of products, but I find food reviews including restaurant reviews don't do much more for me than narrow my choices a bit.

Germack doesn't dry roast their nuts. Not sure about the Squirrel Brand. Germack uses canola oil when roasting their nuts, which can attribute to inflamation in the body.
I purchase all of my nuts dry roasted from nuts.com. Good company; fresh nuts. Great customer service.

Ferris Company on HSN is the BEST !!!!!!! They have nuts with blueberries, some with cherries, and they have a PBJ mix that is outstanding. You should check them out, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Thank you to everyone for your very thoughtful and helpful comments! Seems, as one might expect, there are fans in both camps. I will also check out Ferris on HSN, as a couple of you had suggested. I was not aware of that brand.
You have all been so very helpful and have given me food for thought (pun intended!). ![]()
