Gas or Electric Stoves

[ Edited ]

On many house hunters and remodeling type shows I notice that alot of people want gas stoves. Do you like gas or electric stoves? I only have had electric stoves and the only time I had experience with a gas stove was many years ago when staying at my Aunt and Uncles house and they had a gas stove. I hated it! But I was not used to it at all!

I LOVE to cook and would ONLY COOK ON A GAS STOVE.  You have so much more control.  I tried my MIL's electric and hated it.  I like to see the flame and make adjustments accordingly.  I have a dual fuel range ...  my oven is electric.    For the burners,  it has to be gas for me.

Even though I prefer a gas stove, I currently have an electric one.

When I replace the counter tops next year, I will replace the stove top too.

There are no gas lines in my area due to the terrain (rocky, cliffs, a ridge and a couple mountains.)    I do prefer gas, tho.

I have what I consider be ideal--a gas cook top and a double electric wall oven , one of which is convection.

I didn't design it this way.  It was in the house already.

I prefer gas burners over electric.  It is easier to control and when you turn off the flame, the burner is not hot and will not continue cooking like an electric burner does.

That  being said, I dislike a gas oven for baking.  Electric is better and has a more even heat and produces a much better product. Professional bakeries always use electric ovens.

I have only had gas stoves. And when I have cooked on an electric stove, it has not gone well.

We own a cabin with several other people. They replaced the stove. And whoever bought the stove decided to get an electric stove. Well, ever since then there has been quite a lively discussion. It seems a number of people want a gas stove. The sad thing is - the original stove was working just fine. It was just someone wanted a glass top electric stove. And the battle began.

I prefer an electric stove.  I've had both.

I grew up with an electric stove, but had gas in all of our apartments. I was leery of our first gas stove, but really liked the control once I got used to it. We have an electric glass cooktop and wall oven in our house. In a perfect world, I’d go to a gas cooktop, but I don’t want to run a gas line under the living room and around the basement stairs to get one.
