So with the Simple Human garbage can, you are hands free with a motion sensor to open the top. No touching.  I have a hands free garbage can too, used with a simple foot pedal to open the top. No touching either and requires no batteries.

I think the hype on this product is ridiculously over the top.

What am I missing?

Re: Ga ga over a garbage can?

Better yet, mine is hidden away under the sink & rolls out.  Yes I have to use my hands to roll it out but I just don't care for the look of a garbage can  out and exposed. ....even if it's a sleek looking one.

I do not like trash sitting in my house for very long, especially kitchen trash.  I have a cheap plastic trash can from Walmart, and I use the plastic grocery bags that I get for free from most every store.  I absolutely refuse to buy expensive bags to throw away!

I take it out to my big trash bin at least once a day.  And it is hidden so no one sees it.

I love my Simple Human garbage can. I am on my second one and could not imagine any other kind. I guess it just depends on what you like.

Re: Ga ga over a garbage can?

@akxssChildren, that's what's missing for you. I have both types and the kids can use the sensor one much better. For some reason they can't get the foot petal quick enough or just aren't strong enough. And, they love the sensor so I can get them to throw their stuff away easy enough. Of course, if you don't have kids either one could work.

There's a market out there for everyone, just depends on what people's needs are I suppose.

Lucky you @4kitties

NYS banned our grocery bags and I sure miss them.  Used them for everything....over and over again!

What is the diff if I buy a plastic kitchen trash bag or use the small ones I got from grocery stores?

A bag is a Bag!!!!   Except now I gotta pay for them.  They were recyclable too!

I have a Simple Human trash can and I love it.   Bags are not really that expensive and you can even use regular trash bags, they fit too.  And yes I think they are sleek looking, the cover closes slowly and quietly, and the trash doesn't smell.    Works for me.

I purchased the NINESTARS 13.2G Stainless Steel Motion Sensor Trash Can from QVC in May of 2021.  I love it.

Re: Ga ga over a garbage can?

@4kitties

I do this too!!!! And I always double bag my stuff at the checkout in Walmart ( a lot of times they are recycled bags that barely hold together for the trip from the store to the car to the house....flimsy....!!)

And....I bag ALL my meats in separate bags from the meat area ( those are NICE bags) and use them for fruits and veggies too instead of those insanely hard to open little film plastic bags in the produce section!!!

I HATE garbage. I live alone, and call those little Walmart bags of garbage I collect over a day my "single girl garbage bags"!. I toss them each night so no smelly stuff in the kitchen over night...!! Nice clean bag each morning!!

PS: Here's a hint how to open those horrible film bags in the produce section.....dampen your fingertips on the beads of water sprayed on the veggies like kale, broccoli etc....then you can open the bags easity with your damp fingers!! (I figure everyone washes their veggies when they get home so it won't hurt...you only need one drop!!!)

I reuse everything I can. I use ANY bag with a zip top for use with my cat litter box too...or any foil lined bag ( like potato chips). I waste nothing if I can avoid it!! Folgers Instant Coffee large red canisters and Tide Pods large plastic tubs are good for litter box waste too...wide mouth, tight lid!!!

150 bucks for a magic garbage can. Right.

Totally absurd IMO.
