Definitely do not listen and believe the media. Do your research if you value your health. Use the facts to make the decisions that are best for you. Personally, I am very picky about what I consume.

I find this a very confusing subject. I know I have read that all corn products are GMO. I think a lot of our fruits and vegetables are also - the apples are huge, the watermelon with no rind and no seeds, etc. I try to practice clean eating using very minimal processed food (I skip any recipe that calls for canned soup, Cool Whip or cake mix) but you just can't seem to get away from it.

I just saw this documentary, and I am fully depressed. It's about gmo's and what we doing to the world, and our bodies. Worth watching and also talking about it.

Provide the link.

Why is it that if we choose to not eat GMO foods, then it must mean that we are fruit loop conspiracy theorists who believe EVERY word in the internet? And that we think only in black and white?

Isn't it possible that some of us are capable of rational thought and that we have read both sides of the issue? I don't believe everything that is said against Monsanto and every single conspiracies surrounding all of that. I don't even believe every single word I've read about GMO's.

But I DO choose to believe some of it. Enough of it to concern me to make at least some changes in how I shop. Others might be concerned about different things, but my biggest concern is the use of the roundup on the produce. If I can make that one change (buying and eating food that was not sprayed with roundup), then I make no apology for doing so.

Exactly. I do not trust the media nor would I believe every report that comes out. Most often they are slanted. ...nor do I trust these companies are doing the right thing. It is about the dollar. Some of this stuff is just common sense and getting back to the basics. Food should not be modified period. It is not natural. I choose nongmo wherever I can but I dont go crazy otherwise. If folks feel gmo is okay for them, go for it.

I don't see that being implied in this thread.

Monsanto IS NOT a good company- they're PURE EVIL. Jobs don't even come into play in this discussion.

Monsanto destroys....do some research. EVIL...PURE EVIL.

And you people must know that when "studies" are done about topics, most the time they are funded by the company involved. For ex., a GMO study will have a paper trail leading back to the companies that provide the garbage. Same thing with the pharm companies & their drug testing. The "results", aka lies, will benefit their own cause, & line their pockets.

Don't you realize by now that the almighty $$$ controls everything? Do you actually believe they care about our health?

If you're going to go so far as to claim any company is EVIL ... PURE EVIL ..... the least you could do is to provide some evidence ... some examples ..... people make cwap up all the time, so without any real facts, there's no reason to believe you. {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

Monsanto is all about profits! Not what's good for the public. While I understand a business is about making money it should not become so powerful that it can control most of the food products being sold in the US and as a result what you have available to eat or not.

Here are a few articles about why Monsanto is not a very nice company:

Monsanto aggressively sues farmers for saving seeds

Monsanto vs. farmer

Indian farmers commit suicide because of Monsato

Then there is the Monsanto protection act. I wasn't allowed to post a link because it mentioned the name of our current president...which is a banned word.

I personally try to eat GMO free foods as much as possible. I would rather err on the side of caution. If you live with someone who has a serious illness you would understand how difficult it can be so why fool with mother nature? It seems to me that there are so many more cases of autoimmune illnesses than just a few years ago. I'm sure eating foods laden with chemicals and GMOs is not helping.

I have yet to see a long term (at least 10 years) independent (as in not funded by the company profiting) study showing me that GMO food is safe. Does anyone here know of one? If so can I please see the link?

The farmers that grow GMO seed MUST use the glyphosate (Roundup, Monsanto) on their fields.

1. That chemical chelates (binds) nutrients in the soil so they cannot be absorbed by future plantings. It ruins our soils, the basis for our food supply. There is enough basic nutrient to grow that plant, but not the full complement that our bodies need and have utilized throughout our evolution. Thus, less nutritious food, lacking these chelated trace minerals, is going into our bodies. Farmers who feed their livestock GMO notice problems with fertility with their livestock - what could it be doing to human fertility?

2. That seed has neonics that kill whole bee colonies. I am a beekeeper and it just ticks me off that the big money (Monsanto, Bayer) has their people in high places in our government letting this kind of thing go on. Supreme Court, USDA, paid-for politicians.

JMHO

Thank you! I wish people would get their head out of the sand and learn more about GMOs and what it does to the environment.

Do a search on the USDA website.
