Just got my new catalog, a Love to Cook and Cook to Love Mug free. That's a little different, wondering what spice it would be and we have a mug this month. Note it's only one mug but has both sayings on it with a giant heart and Penzeys name in the middle of the heart.

What's New? Sweet Ginger Bits and Minced Ginger

Banana bread recipe, peanut butter cookies, and molasses sugar cookies all sound great.

WoW, bringing back the memories, my grandma made molasses cookies all the time

I'm out of garlic (can't believe that but I am) need to make a trip over there.

I ordered the two boxes that were on sale before the holidays and I'm really enjoying the spices. I can't resist a freebie, so I'll check out the mug. I should have my new catalog in the mail soon.

Thanks! Smile

Nantucket, I just reread your OP about the molasses cookies. My mother used to make them all time also, so I'll see if the Penzey's recipe is as good as the recipe I grew up with. My catalog better be in the mailbox when I get home, LOL.

I got my catalogue yesterday and ripped out a few recipes. This was a good one.

I am interested in the new ginger flakes and chopped ginger. The recipes for them looked good.

Please post your recipe, I have no idea where my grandma's is, I know my mom took her recipe books and they should be in her kitchen drawer yet but years ago all I remember my grandma was making sweets with no recipes, she just did it.

She made a sponge cake in a 9x11 pan and it came almost to the top of that metal pan, cut them into a larger square, frosted 4 sides and the top and sprinkled coconut allover them, those were too good to be true, my mother never made them at all...she made sponge cakes and a lot of them but never the sponge squares with coconut. My mom doesn't like too much frosting and maybe those squares had too much for her. I haven't made a sponge cake in a long time but this year for sure I'm going to make one for Easter or even a Daffodil cake, now that brings back the memories.

I'm like Topaz Gem, I ordered both "gift" boxes at Christmas. They never left my house, shame on me. Since I collect mugs, I'll definitely be taking part in this promotion.

LOL, mine never left my house either. I bought Christmas presents for everyone else, so that was my Christmas present to me.

Nantucket, I will look for my mother's recipe, but it might be in storage. I have a bunch of stuff put away until I move, and if it's among the stuff in the storage facility, then it will be awhile before I can get to it. It's a pretty basic recipe but always turned out delicious. I'll look around this weekend.

Nantucket, is there a minimum purchase needed for the mug? I don't live too far from a Penzey's store, so I might make a trip over this weekend.

I just got the catalog today.

Susan - It does NOT say anything about any minimum (I read both sides) and expires on March 30, 2014.

You can bring it into a store, send it in with a mail order, or use the coupon code 94047C if ordering online
