For those that really cook: Do You Use a Mandoline?

And if so, how often? The other channel's TS is a Mandoline. I am a regular home cook and I've always been intrigued by Mandolines. Never used one, though. And wondering if I SHOULD own one? Any opinions to share? TIA (Also, apologies for run ons and lack of separation with my text--using the IPad and it gets all wonky when postingSmiley Happy).
