@cheriere  Also forgot to note I simmered this for 3 hours...not the suggested 45 min. It was still thinner than we like it, so i did 4 tablespoons cornstarch to 6 tablespoons water and it thickened it perfectly.  Did this about an hour before I turned it off from cooking.

I really appreciate your letting me know how long to simmer.  Adding the cornstarch during the last hour is something I wouldn't have thought to do either.  I'll bet timing really makes the difference here too.

I'm not the best cook, so I truly do thank you for the recipe and these tips.❤️

Are you planning on freezing any of the sauce?
